Jupiter, Fla. – At this point, nerves are not an issue for Carlos Carrasco.
The Yankees were able to open the fifth spot in the rotation at any time due to another Gerrit Cole injury, which didn't reach the 15-year veteran as he began his second spring on Sunday.
“The pressure was a long time ago,” said the right after three outings in a 6-5 defeat to the Cardinals at Roger Dean Shevrolac Stadium. “I've been through a lot, and like I said before, I'm preparing for spring workouts. Any opportunity is fine, and we'll go from there.”
Carrasco, 37, is likely to become Warren in the race as the 25-year-old is on the roster of 40, but is potentially running to fill for Cole.
Carrasco has been out on a minor league contract with the Yankees. This means you can leave camp depending on how the opportunity shakes.
If not filmed by the end of spring, Carrasco could still head to Triple A Scranton/Wilkes Barre.
“No matter what happens, it happens,” he said. “But I'm just trying to prepare for the season.”

On Sunday, Carrasco ran with two hits, including Homer, walking one and hitting three. In 7²/₃ innings this spring, he has an ERA of 2.35.
“I feel pretty good, man,” he said. “I went out there. I found what I was looking for on my pitch. It's a slider and a changeup. So it's all incredible.”
That's exactly where Carrasco wants at this point in spring. Just make sure everything works.
“Good. Good. Homer really is all about the wind,” Aaron Boone said of Carrasco's start. “I thought he was using his pitch well. Another good outing for him.”
Sources say Giancarlo Stanton, who is on the sidelines with double elbow tendonitis, who shows no signs of progress, is also dealing with the calf problem.
Boone had no call updates prior to Sunday's game.
He wants more information on Monday about the ace who suffered an elbow injury after the start of his second spring on Thursday.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. hit his first home run of the spring with his third top two-run shot.
The two batters hit Spring's second home run, a homer with JC Eskara, who also had two runs.
After the game, the Yankees reassigned outfielder Duque Ellis, catcher Rafael Flores, RHP Eric Real and infielder TJ Lamfield to minor league camp.
They also chose catcher Jessu Rodriguez for the Double A Somerset.
