Menendez brothers: Los Angeles DA Nathan Hochman to give update on case

Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan Hochmann is the latest in the Menendez Brothers case as the convicted murderer Eric and Lyle.

They had previously used up all their appeals, but there was no hope of freedom until new California law allowed for hearings. With the cuts, they can quickly qualify for parole.

The brothers' responsive hearing was postponed following the November Los Angeles District Attorney's election and was rescheduled on March 20th and 21st.

The brothers killed their parents, Mary “Kitty” Menendez and Jose Menendez.

They insisted on self-defense and that their father was afraid to kill them after his father threatened to expose him as a child sex abuser.

Since then, around 20 relatives have come out in support of their freedom, including Kitty's sister Joan Andersen Vandermoren (92).

Her brother, Milton Andersen, was the only family to speak publicly against their release. He passed away on March 3rd at the age of 90, according to his lawyers. A few weeks before his nephew was expected to appear before a California judge.

“Milton Andersen was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather,” lawyer RJ Dreiling told Fox News Digital. “He gave his honor to serve the country as a member of the 82nd Airborne Division. Kitty Menendez wasn't just his sister. He raised her after his father left when he was young. He loved her deeply and missed her every day.”

Andersen vehemently opposed the reduction in his nephew sentence, previously telling Fox News Digital that he didn't believe allegations of sexual abuse against his father.

“Milton was deeply grateful that District Attorney Nathan Hochman had his time personally meeting him,” Dryling said. “He found comfort to know that Hochmann was not only familiar with facts and law, but also approached the conversation with genuine compassion and concern.
