Australia and England set for day-night Test at MCG for 150th Ashes anniversary | The Ashes

The historic 150th anniversary ash test at the 2027 MCG will be performed as a one-day match.

Cricket Australia will be locked in from March 11 to 15th to confirm that the one-off match between Australia and England will be their first men's pink ball test at the venue.

Surprisingly, the first Test in 1877 and the 100th anniversary test in 1977 led Australia to win 45 runs.

The CA claimed that staging the test as a day-night match would allow a larger crowd to attend given that it would be played in March outside of school holidays.

It is the latest in the summer to perform male tests since Australia hosted Pakistan in 1978-79.

CAs retain contractual rights to the MCG until the end of March each summer, but the AFL recently began playing matches on the ground well before the end of the month.

“The 150th Anniversary Test at MCG has become one of the great cricket events, and playing Right Under Light is a great way to celebrate both the rich legacy of the game and the modern evolution of Test cricket.”

“It also helps to ensure that more people are present and see what makes for great opportunities.

“The Centenary Test has created many iconic performances, including five consecutive boundaries off Tony Graig by David Hook, and Rick McCosker batting in the rebellious century with the broken chin and Derek Randall.
