Twenty charged with gang-related crimes over deadly Nevada prison brawl

Twenty people have been charged, and the recent arrests have recently been made in connection with a Nevada prison brawl, killing three inmates and five others injured.

Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford said the final arrest in a fatal incident in an Ely prison took place on March 5th. In total, 20 people faced multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder, using deadly weapons with intent to promote or support criminal gangs, and five counts of murder, using lethal weapons to support criminal gangs.

“The pursuit of justice will not stop at the gates of the prison, and the person responsible for the deaths of three prisoners at Ely prisons will be held responsible,” Ford said in a statement. “We remain committed to ensuring that violence and misconduct within our state correctional systems are met with the full force of the law.”

The brawl took place on July 30, 2024. Three inmates have been killed. Anthony Williams, 41, Connor Brown, 22, and Zaccarialls, 43.

One of the indicted, Andrew Emmerich, was arrested in Reno in January 14 weeks after his release from Ely State Jail, KSNV-TV reported.

Correctional facilities are described as “designated” by the Nevada Department of Corrections Maximum security prison For a state with a capacity of 1,183 prisoners.

Currently, approximately 400 staff work in the facility.

In December 2022, several prisoners there held a strike starving for what supporters and some families described as dangerous conditions and inadequate food pieces.
