Americans are far more pleased with President Trump's economic leadership than they were under Joe Biden a few months ago, according to a CNN poll released Wednesday.
While American households are still working under Biden-era inflation, the worst in 40 years, their views on the president's economic handling have risen with the shift in security guards at the White House.
Biden was just in office in January 33% of Americans say they approved it According to a CNN poll conducted by SSRS in January, he said he handled the economy. The 67% of the majority said they were unhappy with Biden's economic leadership.
President Trump Currently, we have a 44% approval rate. That's higher than Biden's score in any CNN polls since December 2021. At this point in his presidency, Biden had a 49% approval rate in the economy.
CNN says the latest poll was conducted between March 6 and 9 in a call with a random national sample of 1,206 US adults or live interviewers who voted online.
The economy continues to be heartfelt for many Americans, with 42% choosing it as their top problem from a list of seven. This is more than twice the share chosen for other issues.
There is also an increasing number of ways Americans feel about how things in the country are moving forward in general. In the latest poll, 35% said they're doing very well or quite well from 29% in January.
The Labor Department reported Wednesday that monthly inflation rates fell sharply in Trump's first month, down from 0.5% in January to 0.2% in February. This was the lowest monthly inflation rate since last summer, and was better than what economists had predicted.
CNN reported confident benefits in American economic leadership by arguing that “Americans are not impressed with President Donald Trump's management of the economy.”
There have been partisan changes in the president's approval of the treatment of the economy. While 73% of Democrats have approved Biden's handling of the economy, only 7% have approved Trump's performance so far. Just 5% of Republicans approved Biden in the economy, compared to 88% approved Trump.
However, there was a shift towards recognition among independents. In January, only 26% said they had approved Biden's economic performance. Currently, 36% have Trump's approval.
