Maine Rep. Laurel Libby Calls Her Censure ‘Political Retaliation’ — ‘Silenced for a Free Speech Issue’

Rep. Laurel Libby (R-ME) said she is silent for expressing her thoughts on political issues as she is in the depths of her fight with boys competing in women's sports in Maine.

Libby, who was condemned in her post on the matter, said she and her members “submitted a lawsuit in U.S. District Court regarding my voice and my vote.”

“So we are looking for a revision of the situation through the courts, because the chairman doesn't want him to be reasonable and it's absolutely unacceptable that my 9,000 members have been stripped and that there's no voice and vote in a Maine home,” she began.

“Nothing like this has ever happened before. So this is the fourth condemnation in our history, three of which, the previous three, are all about actions within the state Capitol, so it's unprecedented for a sitting lawmaker to remain silent due to issues of freedom of speech,” she said. “That's what this is especially intended.”

“It didn't happen at the Capitol. In fact, it was my own time at my own home and I was expressing my thoughts on policy issues. So it's pretty unprecedented for this to happen, and it's frankly political retaliation, because the speaker and Democrat majority don't like my attitude towards biological men in women's sports,” Libby said.

Host Mike Slater cited the controversial post. “Another example of a non-conspicuous biological male athlete” – a rather funny way to put it – “The person who couldn't beat other men who dominate girls' sports” posted a photo of this boy last year and you know.

“Now you've taken out the other person's faces on the podium, and here you've made the minor a doc. That's what you're being blamed, not the topic,” he played the Devil's Advocate.

“Yeah, that's what they say. You know, it's such a red herring discussion, a small discussion. This is an individual who decided to attend a very public event, which is very public. Libby explained. In fact, these photos were publicly available to me for me to post,” Libby explained.

“It's the fact that biological men are replacing women in Maine, and our young women have strict rights. They are silent and their podiums are taken from them by biological men,” she said. “And that's a conversation Maine Democrats don't want to have.”

Speaking about her case, she said that the defendant had 21 days to respond.

“And in my case, I say that this case violates the legitimate protections, legitimate processes and guarantee provisions of the US Constitution with me that were signed to the case,” she adds, “I make it clear that I will not apologise for putting the truth.

“And the truth behind the problem is that there are biological men in Maine who are replacing women, and that's absolutely unacceptable,” she added.
