The government is barreling towards Friday's closure, and Democrats will have to take responsibility.
With the party in full panic mode, Democrats are trying to pull out all stops to avoid closure without giving Republicans a victory.
House Republicans passed a 99-page continuous resolution Tuesday evening with a vote close to the party, marking another legislative victory in the belt of Louisiana Republican speaker Mike Johnson. Senate majority leader John Tune (Rs.D.) is also moving forward with CR, but Democrats are digging their heels.
Democrats are currently in a nightmare scenario and have to choose to vote for Trump-backed CR or shut down the government.
“Senate Republicans are working hard to prevent government shutdowns, but it's ultimately up to Senate Democrats to decide whether to reveal federal lighting,” Thune said. I said.
“The house did the job and went through a clean CR to fund the federal government,” Johnson said. I said. “If Senate Democrats block votes in favor or downwards on this, that's clear. They want to shut down the government. Duration. Full suspension.”
The CR must pass the Senate 60 vote threshold to call coagulation and advance the vote. Although Republicans have a majority of 53 seats, Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul vowed to vote against the CR, demanding that at least eight Democrats pass the fundraising bill across the aisle.
“Understanding that there is nothing wise about Senate Democrats setting up a fake failure that first failed 30 days of CR.
Democrats are currently in a nightmare scenario and have to choose to vote for Trump-backed CR or shut down the government.
Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer has Desperately It attempted to lock the responsibility on Republicans and provided several other 30-day suspensions Democrats I have it support.
However, Schumer's CR is essentially dead upon arrival given the disadvantages of Democrats' elections in both the House and Senate. Even if all Democrats voted in favor of the resolution, neither the House nor the Senate passed. Schumer's proposed stop rather provides Democrats with the opportunity to say they tried to revise the course before voting for the Republican CR.
Republicans are now known as Democrats' bluffs.
Schumer's off-ramp attempt was not well received by prominent Democrats like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York.
“I hope Senate Democrats understand what is wise about the fake setup that initially failed 30-day CR. I said. “These games don't fool anyone. It doesn't fool voters, it doesn't fool house members. People don't forget that.”
Republicans are now known as Democrats' bluffs. Thune scheduled a vote for the coagulation on Friday, forcing Democrats to decide whether to keep the government open just hours before the closing deadline. Several Democrats are outwardly calling for the closure, but we need to wait for them to finally fold.
