Giants meet with Joe Flacco as Aaron Rodgers wait continues

The quarterback is off the board in free agency. The Giants are still needed and cannot wait forever to see what Aaron Rodgers has decided to do.

They've seen veteran quarterbacks of all sorts and brought in one of the league's oldest ones on Thursday by meeting with Joe Flaco at the team facility.

A post earlier this week reported that the Giants had some interest in the 40-year-old Flacco, who has 17 seasons on their NFL resume.

At this point they need to consider all the options.

The Giants fail to lure Matthew Stafford out of the Rams, and make an offer to Rogers and speak to Russell Wilson on Friday when he visits.

As the market heated up for the quarterback, Gardner Minshew signed with the Chiefs, Mac Jones went to the 49ers, Jacoby Brissett joined the Cardinals and Mason Rudolph returned to the Steelers.

The Giants only have Tommy DeVito on the roster and will need to add two quarterbacks.

The plan is to sign a veteran who can start opening dates if necessary and select one in next month's NFL Draft.

The Giants own the third overall pick.

Flacco never seems to disappear.

He played properly for the Colts in 2024, making it 2-4 with six starts and completing 65.3% of passes with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

His how-gun right arm remains strong, but he is not what he was during his heyday as the Ravens Super Bowl winner.

If they miss Rogers and Wilson, he is an option for the Giants.

Last season's Week 17 Fracoco illuminated it against the Giants, completing 26 of 38 passes for 330 yards, two touchdowns and two intercepts, making it a fateful 45-33 Giants victory that ended a 10-game loss.
