Columbia anti-Israel agitator Mahmoud Khalil adds Trump, Rubio to lawsuit demanding release, alleges his constitutional rights violated

In addition to the lawsuit demanding the release of President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday night, anti-Israel activist Mahmoud Halil has argued that Trump administration officials violated his constitutional rights and were engaged in a “hostile campaign” against parent-sector supporters.

The revised petition accused Trump, Rubio and other administrative officials of “targeting” and “retaliation detention” of Columbia University graduates of “fearing that other individuals would express sympathetic opinions towards Palestinians.”

“For half of last year, Mr. Halil has been a mediator, student protester on Columbia campus related to Israeli military campaigns in Gaza, and sometimes a public face protester, and sometimes a 33-page petition filed in district court for the Southern District of New York.

“The Trump administration has kept its opposition to those protests unsecret and has repeatedly threatened to weaponize immigration laws to punish non-citizens who participated,” it continued.

Halil's lawyers argue that the Trump administration's “rarely called out” basis for deportation is “reserved for cases of suspected removable terrorists on high-ranking government officials or other reasons, and are subject to the well-known prosecution of their country's country.”

“It appears that it has never been applied to any person before to engage in First Amendment protected speech,” Filing said.
