The 21-year-old New Jersey native will be the only living hostage in his next release. This includes the bodies of four dual states who died in confinement, and the terrorist group said negotiations led to discussions on the second phase of a ceasefire agreement with Israel.
However, it was not immediately clear when the transfer would take place, and which parties participated in negotiations for the transaction.
Alexander, who joined the Israeli army, was 19 years old when he was taken from a base in southern Israel on October 7th.th Terrorist attacks that sparked war.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has sought his release as a “first priority.”
“Edan Alexander is very important to us – like all hostages do – but Edan Alexander is an American and he is injured, so he is our number one priority.”
Recently, a meeting between Hamas leaders and US hostage negotiator Adam Berer has focused on releasing him from prison.
This also departs from years of US policy that it is not directly involved with terrorists after the White House made a surprise announcement last week, saying that American officials were engaged in “continuous consultations and discussions” with Hamas officials.
Nevertheless, Hamas' Friday announcement comes as consultations continued in Qatar to try to reach the next stage of the ceasefire in Qatar.
The United States, Qatar and Egypt are trying to reopen negotiations to ease the differences between terrorist groups and Jewish states, free the remaining hostages detained by Hamas prisoners, and deliver aid to war-covered regions.
March 2ndndIsrael blocked the intrusion of aid trucks into Gaza as a ceasefire conflict as Hamas is asking the mediator to intervene.
Since January 19thththe battles in Gaza were suspended in the first phase of the Phase 3 ceasefire deal.
Currently, Hamas is trading 33 Israeli hostages and five Thais for almost 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees.
