Sen. Mark Kelly ditching his Tesla: 'Built and designed by an a‑‑hole'

Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly (D) says he is looking for a “new vehicle” and intends to remove his Tesla.

“I'm driving here in Washington for my last work at Tesla,” Kelly said in a video posted to Social Platform X.

“Every time I've got in this car in the last 60 days or so, it reminds me of how much Elon Musk and Donald Trump are doing to our country. I'm talking about social security novelty, cutting medical benefits for the poor. He spoke about Musk's actions as the government's Department of Efficiency (DOGE).

Kelly also said Musk is firing veterans.

“I'm a veteran, so I'm really struggling to drive with this,” he said of his Tesla. “I think today is the time to upgrade.”

He said he's really liked Tesla, but it's “it doesn't matter.”

“It turns out that something like Elon Musk is a hole. I don't want to drive a car built and designed by the hole, so I look forward to my new ride,” he said.

Kelly announced last weekend that he was abandoning Tesla after Musk called him a “traitor” on social media to see how Ukrainians respond to Trump's decision to halt military aid and intelligence news sharing to support the war with Russia.

Kelly bristled the insult, telling MSNBC's “Rachel Madow Show” that “the only vow that Elon can consider to be his check account, his pocket book.”

Tesla stocks have fallen since the beginning of his year due to an outrageous backlash against Musk over President Trump's severe cuts to federal sector and institutions.

Tesla's stock has fallen 34% since the beginning of the year.

Musk confirmed Monday that he has “great difficulty” running his business while balancing his corporate responsibilities in his work at Doge.

He told Fox Business's Larry Kudrow that he was working to “make the government more efficient,” and insisted that he was “actually making good progress.”
