The controversial decision by New York's Democratic minority leader Chuck Schumer to succumb to the Republican fundraising bill has led him to call on lawmakers Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (DN.Y.) to challenge him in the upcoming primary.
Democrats expressed anger when Schumer admitted defeat and said the party would not get in the way of a continuing resolution from the Republicans to avoid shutting down the government.
“This ongoing solution codifies many of the disruption Elon Musk is wreaking havoc for the federal government. It codifies many of these changes.”
Schumer claimed the closure would fall into the hands of President Donald Trump and other Republicans.
“The CR bill is very bad, but the possibility of a shutdown will affect America much worse,” he said.
Among them Deathly Schumer's Ocasio-Cortez was Ocasio-Cortez, who frequently thorny on the founding of the Democratic Party.
“We can't fully urge how bad it is to make Donald Trump and Elon Musk possible at this moment. It's dangerous and reckless,” she said in an interview with CNN's Jake Tupper.
She pointed to various city hall events where Republicans in Congress were angered and blamed by several constituents who were negatively affected by government funding cuts.
“If anyone has city hall, or if they see what's going on at city hall, whether it's American people, Republicans, independents, Democrats, I'm armed with Elon Musk and the actual destruction of all-out federal agencies,” Ocasio-Cortez said. “This ongoing solution codifies much of this confusion that Elon Musk is wreaking havoc for the federal government. It codifies many of these changes.”
According to CNN, anger at Schumer led to centristic Democrats joining the far left-handed voice for Ocasio-Cortez from primary Schumer. Report Thursday. One member told CNN that some Democrats were so upset with Schumer that they were willing to “write an AOC check” right away.
When faced with Tupper in person about the possibility, Ocasio-Cortez had no consent or objection.
“We have time to revise the course of this decision. Senate Democrats can vote for no. We can revise the course, and that's the most important thing right now in front of us,” she replied.
Later on Friday, 10 Democrats joined Republicans and advanced the Senate bill to avoid government shutdowns.
Before the current controversy, Ocasio-Cortez has said many times that he wants new leadership for the party. She first won the election after California Democrat Nancy Pelosi, defeating the next lining party boss of the House Speaker.
