US Special Envoy Steve Witkov said he hopes President Donald Trump will talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin this week.

The announcement follows President Trump and Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky agree to a 30-day ceasefire agreement, paving the way for a lasting peace arrangement.

The immediate focus is to get Putin to participate in the agreed ceasefire agreement, and Trump said on Friday with optimism that “it's very likely that this horrible, bloody war will finally end.”

In a show of sincerity, Putin said he respects President Trump's demands to save the lives of surrendered Ukrainian troops.

Zelensky revealed details of the ceasefire contract it accepted last Tuesday on the X-Post.

Zelensky said the US proposed “a 30-day, complete interim ceasefire that not only halts missiles, drones and bomb attacks, but also along the entire frontline.”

“Ukraine is ready to accept this proposal. We see it as a positive step and are ready to take it. Now it is up to the US to persuade Russia to do the same. If Russia agrees, the ceasefire will be carried out immediately,” he added.

Zelensky also argued that Putin was trying to “extend the war” by stacking Russian troops along the Smie region of Ukraine.

“This indicated an intention to attack,” Zelensky said. “We recognize this and we'll fight it. I want all our partners to understand exactly what Putin is planning, what he's preparing, what he's going to ignore.”

“The accumulation of Russian troops indicates that Moscow intends to continue to ignore diplomacy,” Zelensky added. “It is clear that Russia is extending the war. We are ready to provide our partners with all the actual information about the situation in front of us, along the Kursk region, along the border.”

Meanwhile, Witkov said the recent discussion with Putin was “positive,” but refused to delve into the details.

Witkoff said President Trump was “involved in all the important decisions here.” [US and Russian] President this week. ”

“Like the president said, he really hopes there will be some sort of deal in the coming weeks, and I think so,” he continued.

Witkov's delicate diplomatic role provides Ukraine with a “security guarantee” while at the same time easing Russian concerns, including the addition of Russia's NATO membership.

The Waltz called Ukraine's NATO entry “incredibly unlikely.”

“We can talk about what's right and what's wrong, and we also have to talk about the reality of the ground situation, and that's what we do through diplomacy, shuttle diplomacy and proximity consultations,” he added.
