Veteran Democratic strategist James Kerrville predicts others in his party will speak out against trans athletes competing in women's sports, following California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Earlier this month, Newsom focused on opposing biological men who participate in women's sports, calling it “deeply unfair” in a podcast conversation with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
“I think that's the view most Americans have,” Kerrville responded in an interview with Fox News Digital.
“I'm not that big in the state track competition, but athletic administrators can understand this,” he continued. “That's not a big problem for me. We took on a lot of water for something we didn't do. [address]. ”

A New York Times poll in January found that nearly 80% of Americans were opposed to biological men in women's sports, including 67% of Democrats.
Kerrville remembers the alarm over the unpopular attitude Democrat officials have embraced on the issue.

“If you think the issue was so important, you had to convince people,” Kerrville said. “They tell people that we have the courage and are here for this. Why not change public opinion and win the election, and maybe you can achieve your goals? But now the public doesn't want that. And you ask the Democrats to do this.
“Newsom said. [Massachusetts Democratic Rep.] Seth Moulton said. I think you're going to make it appear more,” he added.

Despite being a rare 80-20 issue for Americans, Democrats continue to advocate for unpopular views. Earlier this month, Senate Democrats blocked a bill that would ban trans athletes from competing in women's sports.
However, Kerrville didn't think his party was wrong by blocking the bill.

“I think this is an issue with the Athletic Association,” Kerrville said. “Governor of Utah, okay, Governor Cox – they're I gave him an anti-trance sports bill. And he said, “Look, I have 100,000 high school athletes in Utah. I got four that are trans. This isn't my problem.” Someone said there were 50,000 female athletes from the NCAA and maybe six. [are transgender]. Let the NCAA understand that. It's not a matter of state legislature. Let's deal with the Olympics. ”
“I was actually driving the track, so I'm watching the NCAA truck encounters. I don't think about it. It doesn't go beyond my mind. I don't think there's a need for a legislative solution to this…it's not a legislative issue. It's not a problem for the association.
