Thistle is a new drug consumption clinic located on the eastern edge of Glasgow and aims to reduce drug-related deaths in the city. Open 365 days a year.
In 2023, 1,172 Scots died of drug misuse. A quarter of Glasgow was named European Drug Death Capital.
Libby Brooksthe Guardian's Scottish correspondent speaks to staff at Azaree about the services they can provide and why they believe the services are essential to saving lives.
She said: “The population thistle deals with, they're like hard-to-reach role models. They're people who have had really difficult experiences in traditional health services, criminal justice throughout their lives, and that's why thistles connect with them in very different ways.
“They are now looking at people who have probably never been to medical appointments and have not seen official people for two or three years.
