A Georgia teenage girl who disappeared more than a year ago after arguing with her father was finally found to be safe using fake names in the neighbouring states. Authorities announced Monday -To rescue his mother, who was delighted.
Police and reports show that 16-year-old Asata Amun was found on February 1, 2024 in a shoeless doorbell video from Buford Home in Gwinnett County.
The girl disappeared after her father threatened to ship her to a military school over a disciplinary issue. The WSB reported.
“So you're just going to run like a coward,” cried her father Kwabena Amun, police said, according to the station.
After 13 months of uncertainty, Gwinnett police said Amun had been under the control of the Tennessee Department of Children's Services since February 2024, but under the alias.
Tennessee officials were finally able to understand Amun's true identity after sorting out an inconsistent statement from the girl.
The girl's mother, Jasmine Dominique I told WSB This week, when she got good news about her girl, she “drove the phone.”
“I couldn't believe it,” said a parent who lives in Connecticut.

“When she left, she was in Atlanta and slept on the street until someone was on the bus to help her and get to where she needed to feel safe,” added Dominic, hoping to be reunited with her daughter soon.
Amun's two sisters were taken from her father's home last year over allegations that he had abused, and Amun claimed she was being abused, the WSB reported.
Kwabena Amun denied these charges, according to the station.
Amun will be moved to care for the Georgia Department of Family & Children's Services, police said.
