Russ Vought’s OMB begins DEI purge at NASA after Blaze News, ‘Glenn TV’ investigation

Last week, Blaze News and “Glenn TV” released the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Playbook, created to sell the Artemis program.

Kicking off under the first Trump administration, Artemis initially aimed to “land the first woman and the next man” on the moon. Under the Biden administration, the mission has been renewed, with NASA vowing to land the first woman of the moon and the first person of color.

“Leave science.”

The 2021 99 slide deck “The Artemis Brand Playbook,” obtained by Blaze News via whistleblowers, outlined the mission's comprehensive, high-budget marketing strategy, covering branding, messaging, target audiences, potential challenges, and proposed corporate partnerships.

The leaked documents detail the storyline of NASA's missions with the listed “antagonists” and “protagonists,” revealing the deep integration of diversity, equity and comprehensive goals under the Biden administration.

Two NASA whistleblowers who asked to remain anonymous due to fear of retaliation previously spoke to Blaze News about Dei's invasion on the Artemis Playbook and NASA.

“One scientist said, “I was shocked at how meticulously they control the story and the protagonist, antagonist, whom they already identify in advance.”

She highlighted the proposed storyline for the Artemis project's playbook, explaining how NASA had “cherry-pick.”[ed] These rags and rich stories… much of it was mainly about Day. ”

The second scientist focused on the “production value” of a wide range of slide decks.

“The document probably comes with millions of dollars,” he told Blaze News.

“In my opinion, NASA has become a glorious DEI program,” he said.

A NASA spokesperson confirmed the credibility of the playbook, telling Blaze News that it was “developed by a third party in 2021, limited agency use and reflects the priorities of the previous administration.”

On the first day of President Donald Trump's second administration, he Executive Action Instruct the federal government to purge all DEI-related initiatives. However, it did not appear that NASA has updated its website to comply with the order.

For example, a web page Regarding the Artemis program, the agency pointed out that “first women, first people of color, and first international partner astronauts aim to explore more lunar surfaces than ever before using innovative technology.”

Last week, “Glenn TV” contacted the Office of Management and Budget to inquire about NASA's apparent lack of compliance with the Trump administration's requirements.

“The language has been changed from the website,” an OMB spokesperson replied. “Other changes should be at the end of the day.”

Blaze News confirmed that the language has been removed from web page.

Learning resources pageThe title, titled “What is the Artemis Program? (Grades 5-8)” was also flagged by “Glenn TV.” The Trump administration's OMB said it plans to update the webpage as well. On Wednesday morning, the mission explains that it will “send the first woman and the first person of the moon.”

The whistleblower shared his response to the update in a statement to Blaze News.

While NASA's quick response is a step in the right direction, the true measure of progress is whether it leads to lasting changes in reality. Again and again, we have seen how public messages differ from internal reality. Leadership gives speeches an inspiring commitment.

The issues with NASA run far deeper than the playbook. Dei sits on a long list of budgetary burdens that have come historically at the expense of other important priorities, such as scientists moving forward with NASA missions.

Scientific achievements should speak for themselves – no bureaucracy or public relations team is needed to soften the message in the name of a politicized agenda. The groundbreaking work of NASA scientists, engineers and astronauts is already well-done, but is burdened too often by unnecessary delays and withdrawal of funding. If their work is deemed essential, it must be given to resources and agents to perform it without interference.

Regeneration that shifts focus to DEI at the expense of anything below that, especially critical research, is to face those scientific efforts.

The real question is whether this administration will prioritize those who make space exploration possible. True progress comes from discoveries, not from changing priorities to satisfy the political narrative.

Science leads. Talk to scientists, engineers and astronauts for yourself, shape your own story of success, and let them be free from unnecessary obstacles and agendas.
