Re-Health (Maha) Caucus lawmakers on Wednesday praised President Donald Trump and HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for their efforts to ensure the safety of infant formulas.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) department on Tuesday announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) will launch a “stork speed” to review and increase testing for heavy metals and other contaminants in infant formula.
“The FDA will use all resources and authorities at will to ensure that infant formula products are safe and healthy for the families and children who rely on them,” Kennedy said in a statement. “Helping each family and child get off to the right start at birth is important to our pursuit of ensuring America is healthy again.”
In the release, HHS said the FDA has not completed a comprehensive update and review of infant nutrients since 1998.
“The FDA continues to be committed to the safety and nutritional quality of infant prescriptions, and is taking all actions to ensure that the supply of infant prescriptions in the United States ranks the best in the world,” HHS said in a press release.
Many members of the Congressional Maha Caucus supported Trump and Kennedy's move to ensure the safety and quality of infant formula.
“We need to protect America's youngest citizens by ensuring families have access to the safest and healthiest infant formula,” Sen. Cynthia Lumith (R-WY), a member of the Maha Caucus, said in a statement to Breitbart News.
“Making America healthy starts again as a child. For all parents, it's crucial to know what ingredients are in infant formulas, so that you can make informed decisions that will have the greatest benefits of your child's health.
Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) said,Through Biden's presidency, I called for his failed leadership because the formula was nowhere to be found, and parents were in a hurry to find it for their children. Thank you, President Trump @robertkennedyjrto address the issue. I have my full support for Stork Speed operations. ”
