Tesla has recalled nearly all 46,096 Cybertrucks due to defects that could cause the stainless steel exterior panels to detach, posing a road hazard to drivers and increasing the risk of injuries and collisions.
The recall affects all Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13th and February 27th, 2023, with an estimated 1% of vehicles likely to be affected, according to Tesla.
The issue was first identified in January, and subsequent investigations found 151 warranty claims related to the issue, but no reported crashes, deaths, or injuries.
In related news, Tesla’s stock has plummeted over 50% since December, amid demonstrations, including arson and vandalism, targeting Tesla dealers and cars.
The Trump administration has shown support for Elon Musk, with the president testing various Tesla models at the White House last week and the Commerce Secretary urging Americans to buy Tesla stocks, while the Attorney General dubbed the attacks on Tesla “domestic terrorism”, announcing arrests on Thursday.
