CNN host Erin Burnett said on “Outfront” Thursday that Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) was trying to rewrite history on progressive policies he once defended.
“Tonight, “What is happening in Gavin Newsom in the name of God?” And that's the headline. And there are headlines that ask such questions, but there are headlines that ask such questions. Newsom, well, he really completely changed his songs about some of the hottest button issues for Democrats. ”
She added:
On his podcast, Newsom said, “Never one person in my office used the word Latinx.”
“I found someone who used it repeatedly in his office. Let's hear this,” said Andrew Kaczynski, senior editor at CNN Kfile.
Kaczynski aired several Newsom clips using the term between 2020 and 2023.
“He's also rewritten a bit of history about his attitudes on transgender issues. He had a perspective on the podcast,” Burnett said.
Discussing the issue of transgender on his podcast, Newsom said: “A few years before I became governor, there was a law in 2014 establishing legal principles that allowed women's sports trans athletes. But the issue of fairness is completely legal. It's a question of fairness, and I think Democrats have lost it.”
“I feel like in that statement he doesn't have any involvement in this at all. He says, “Yeah, 2014, a few years before I became governor.” Similarly, when you were the lieutenant governor, when you actively praised the law?
