California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that California will launch a satellite sensor that detects methane for $100 million, but borrows more than $6 billion to fill the shortfall in its healthcare system.
Golden State is out of cash, and its Medicaid system, Medi-Cal, is insolvent thanks to Newom's decision to expand free healthcare to illegal aliens. The state is also caught up in wildfires, homelessness and crime.
However, Newsom, who recently launched his own podcast, believes he has enough money to fund the launch of satellite sensors to track local releases of methane, a greenhouse gas, to reduce global emissions.
Ironically, California has released six times more carbon dioxide than any other state in its union over the past 17 years.
Newsom announced the satellite as an excavation for the Trump administration over climate change.
In a statement, the governor's office I said:
This new initiative comes as the Trump administration's EPA works to dismantle decades of clean air and clean water protection. Specifically, the US EPA is reexamining “danger discovery,” the basis for federal action to curb the emissions of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide and methane, that warm up the planet.
The technology announced today includes a satellite-mounted methane sensor. This sends data so that you can spot and monitor a large amount of methane emissions that may not detect the condition. This new data will allow state and local agencies to work with the industry to stop leaks and protect public health.
…
The satellite project and the data obtained therefrom were made possible by a $100 million investment from the state's cap-and-trade program. One satellite has already been released, with a maximum of seven more being deployed.
The state maintains databases and web portals to coordinate and document mitigation actions. California does not own these satellites, but state agencies can select specific regions for observation. This data will be made available to the community for methane mitigation efforts, education and outreach.
…
Last year, California continued its promise from former governor Jerry Brown when a coalition supported by charities, including the state, launched its “own satellite” to track dangerous contaminants like methane.
Ironically, Newsom has I asked for credit Regarding “fastest major cleanup in American history” during the Los Angeles wildfire, despite federal agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, being responsible for their progress.
“And thanks to the EPA, thank you very much. [EPA Administrator] “Lee Zeldin, thank you for President Trump for helping me directly,” said Newsom. Recognised On his recent podcast, conservative radio legend Michael Savage was his guest.
While seeking money from the Trump administration and lenders, Newsom recently signed a $50 million spending to fight the administration's policies and provide legal assistance to illegal foreigners who are resisting deportation.
