California man stabbed outside Starbucks in apparent road rage attack: police

California State Police are investigating an obvious road rage incident after a man was said to have stabbed another driver in self-defense after being attacked in a parking lot at a popular coffee chain over the weekend.

The incident occurred around 4pm Sunday at Starbucks on East Alessandro Boulevard on Riverside, about 55 miles from Los Angeles.

The violence began after the victim unintentionally chopped off the suspect while driving, and the suspect chased the victim into a local Starbucks drive-thru and confronted the man, Riverside police told Fox News Digital.

An argument broke out between the two individuals and the suspect began choking the victim in the busy parking lot of the coffee chain, police said.

Police said the victim pulled out his knife and stabbed the suspect in the arm in an act of self-defense. The suspect fled the scene but was found hiding in a nearby trash can area when police arrived.

Both men are taken to a local hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.

He has not been arrested since the suspect needed surgery and the investigation remains ongoing, according to a statement from Riverside Police to Fox News Digital.
