Things began to change for Shanahan when he realized that “something is happening worldwide, as pertaining to the spirit of mankind.”

“Part of my journey to baptism has been truly challenging and painful,” she admitted, noting that many of these difficulties have happened while on the campaign trajectory.

Although she has believed in God since she was a child, Shanahan says her “interpersonal relationships” with him have dramatically evolved her “passing through the fire” during election season.

“You're on your knees quite a bit,” she says. “I needed to hear God's voice. I needed guidance.”

Not only was it “not a normal election,” but Shanahan and her partner Jacob Stramwasser suffered a horrifying personal tragedy. In September 2024, Shanahan had a miscarriage while pregnant 20 weeks.

“It was really scary. I almost lost my life,” she told Ally, adding that she “lost four liters of blood” and that her condition is so serious that she “had the pastor in” before being sent for surgery.

“I was taken very close at the end…and I could feel it,” but “I'm back. I've woken up,” she says.

In addition to her miraculous recovery, Shanahan says that “there is no meaning in a strictly materialistic world” has witnessed several events “in the spiritual world.” [are] It's well defined. ”

On January 19, 2025, the day before President Trump's inauguration, Shanahan was baptized in his backyard in Atherton, California.

She shared her spiritual journey and baptism inspiringly xPost last month.

However, before she became a Christian, Shanahan had converted to Judaism.

“At what point did you realize, 'Wow, this Jesus person is who he is saying, and Christianity is true'? “Alie asks.

Shanahan says she began spending a lot of time when the campaign began Zach Henrya Texas-born evangelical Christian who “helped Vivek Ramaswamy launch a political career” before joining the RFK Jr. campaign team.

“Zach's presence and love for Scripture and Jesus is one of the things that really changed my perspective and the evangelicals. …I'm from Oakland. I spend all my time in progressive circles, and white Christians and evangelical nationalists are about “destroying America,” reflects Shanahan.

In her circle, Christians were seen as “non-empathic”, “intelligent”, and “hate”.

“And I'm with Zach Henry, the first evangelical Christian in my life. I'm the guy who's incredibly wonderful, really clever… incredibly caring, and all my prejudices go out the window,” she says.

People around her world say, “I'll spend tens of thousands of dollars on therapy.”

Diane Robinson, the woman who baptized her, also played a pivotal role in her Christian journey.

The week after Nicole left the hospital after suffering a miscarriage, she met Diane Robinson, the leading pastor at Santa Rita Prison.

At the time, her life was in “such an incredible discrepancy” between her recent tragedy, her political status as RFK Jr.'s running mate, and her recent divorce and custody fight with her ex-husband Sergey Brin.

Then, “Dianne Robinson enters my life and she opens the Bible right in front of my eyes,” says Shanahan. “She seems to be, 'You need to think about Jesus' blood,' specifically, the “power of Jesus' power.” ”

It was the last thing Shanahan wanted to think about at the time, but Diane was right to point her to Jesus' blood, as it was the “most sacred covenant.”

“My world is so full of pain in that moment, and still in pain. But to know that you are not alone, we know that our souls belong to Him, as the blood of Jesus was shed for our humans in our pure incongruence world.

It is this knowledge that allows her to “do the right thing.”
