Nets trampled by Mavericks in wire-to-wire defeat that helps their tank

After weeks of close loss, the net was blown away on Monday.

The net running after the wire was on the receiver of the Mavericks' 120-101 beatdown, before a crowd of 16,434 at the Barclays Center.

The net never led, and single-digit straight games were set with a maximum of 22 straight games.

The Nets (23-49) took fifth place in the lottery standings ahead of Philadelphia, with the 76ers' results moving two games ahead of seventh-placed Toronto in the second half of Monday.

Monday was a big day in the tanking world, with the 76ers facing the Pelicans (fourth in lottery odds) and raptors beating the NBA-Worst Washington.

Playing without injured point guard D'Angelo Russell (right ankle sore), the lack of ball handling has returned to haunt the net.

They overtook 31-14 in sales points.

Nic Claxton had a team high of 19 points, while Cam Johnson added 17 points.

The net stumbled quickly from the gate, and Naji Marshall (Game High 22 Points) pull-up made it 21-8 with a pull-up in under 7 minutes.

The net allowed nine unanswered points later in the quarter, with Brandon Williams jumper leaving Brooklyn on the 32-15 hole, leaving the first half-minute rest.

Brooklyn mounted a 12-4 run but they couldn't get enough stop.

The net surpassed 12-0 sales in the first half, falling behind at 94-72 in Williams basketball.

The rest was garbage time.
