President Donald Trump announced Tuesday that National Security Council staff and aides to national security adviser Mike Waltz have added. Atlantic Ocean Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg went to a signal group chat about a military strike against the Hoosis.
Trump told NBC News in a phone interview.
The president did not name the staff.
He also defended the waltz for using signals to adjust the strike, saying, “Michael Waltz learned a lesson and he's a good guy.”
He also expressed confidence in his national security team, saying that Goldberg's presence in the chat “has no effect on the strike.” Most of them were in group chats.
He added that it was “the only glitch in two months and it turned out to be not serious.”
Despite suggested Goldberg's claims, Director Tulsi Gabbard testified Tuesday to the Senators that no material classified in group chats had been shared.
Furthermore, despite Goldberg said he had sent a text message to the names of “active” CIA officials, Central Intelligence Director John Ratcliffe said his communications did not contain classified information, suggesting that it was a security breach.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegses refuted Goldberg's claim that he texted “war plans” in group chat, with White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt in X's post saying “the classified material was not sent to the thread.”
Waltz on Tuesday made his first comment on the issue, saying he had never spoken to Goldberg before.
“The city has a lot of journalists who have made a big name for the city, whether it's a Russian hoax or lying about the Gold Star family.
The Waltz then praised the strike against the Hoosis, saying, “The world president supports President Trump.”
“Under Biden, global shipping has been closed. Pin stab attacks, months. Our destroyer has been fired dozens of times. President Trump took decisive positive action with his national security team. He took the head missile, knocked out missiles, knocked out headquarters, knocked out communications sites.
“As Coach Ratcliffe testified today, his first day in the work he was featured on this app in his government system at the CIA and the State Department and others. Hegses, a close friend and fellow veteran, is leading the charges.”
