Donald Trump has stated that “nations worldwide” are engaging with the Trump administration following the tariff declaration.
He also mentioned that the Japanese Prime Minister “is dispatching a top team to negotiate!”
Nations everywhere are reaching out to us. It involves tough but just terms. This morning, I had a conversation with the Japanese Prime Minister. He is sending a leading team to negotiate! They have treated the United States very unfairly in trade. They don’t accept our cars, yet we import millions of theirs. Agriculture, too, and several other “things”. All of this must change, especially regarding China!!!
“Over 50 countries are contacting to discuss this new stance with the president,” a White House economic adviser stated.
Leading economic advisors from the White House mentioned on April 6 that more than 50 nations had reached out to the Trump administration and commenced discussions regarding a variety of tariffs announced in nearly every nation globally during the first week of April.
In an interview with ABC News “This Week,” Kevin Hassett, head of the White House National Economic Council, stated, “more than 50 countries have been attempting to negotiate this new stance with the president” since the tariffs were implemented.
“They realize that they owe numerous tariffs, so they do,” he informed the outlet.
Trump has not backed down.
