Comedian Theo Von issues warning about not giving Trump tariffs a try

Comedian Theo Fong warned that trying President Trump’s tariffs could be “packaging” for the American economy, supporting the push for an administration that revives hollow towns and revitalizes American manufacturing.

“On this comedy tour, I’ve probably been to the top 200 cities, perhaps the size of the US. That’s more than that.” Fon said His “This Last Weekend” podcast.

“And many of them, there’s nothing there. It’s an empty downtown…” he continued. “And you start to not change. Nothing will change. There’s nothing to make it different.”

Like others who say they give a chance to the president’s tariffs, Fong calls the strategy “long-term play,” noting that the goal of bringing work back to US soil and producing products that are now built offshore is time-consuming.

Trump said Maria Bartiromo of Fox News last month said that the early stages of his economic strategy have been bumpy for Americans, with a special focus on the “transition period” as his policies take effect.

His comments sparked growing concerns about a potential economic slowdown amid concerns from business leaders about instability caused by tariffs imposed on a few countries.

The Trump administration subsequently imposed mutual tariffs on many other trading partners and then suspended them, but most notably, it raised tariffs on China’s imports to 125% in the trade wars before and after.
