‘Home Alone 2’ director regrets famous Trump cameo

Director “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” Chris Columbus considers President Donald Trump’s famous cameo to his neck as a “curse” and “albatross.”

The 1992 film featured a short cameo by the then Real Estate mogul, giving instructions to Kevin McCallister, the main character of the film played by Macaulay Culkin at the Plaza Hotel in New York at the time.

The exterior is considered an iconic moment in the film, but Columbus is San Francisco Chronicle On Monday, he hopes it’s gone now.

“A few years later, it became this curse,” Columbus said. “I hope you’re not there.”

Columbus said Business Insider Trump’s Bull in 2020[ied] “The only way you can use the Plaza is to say, ‘If I’m in the movie,’ and then “I’ll enter the movie.”

However, in 2023, Trump claimed on social media post Columbus is currently in conflict as the filmmaker begged for his cameo.

“What’s going on with this guy’s mind? He said I was lying. I’m not lying. He said he asked him to appear in the film, but I don’t have a world to ask him to appear in the film,” the Columbus Sci-Fi Chronicle. “But we were eager to get a Plaza Hotel.”

He continued [the cameo] There. It became an albatross for me. I hope it’s gone. ”

Columbus said he was surprised at how popular the cameo was, especially at one of the film’s early screenings.

“We screened the film in Chicago, and the audience was hooked when the moment got on screen,” Columbus said. “They cheered, cheered, and they thought it was hilarious, because I think they know a lot about comedy, but obviously they didn’t think it would be considered hilarious.”

Columbus jokingly added that despite being an American citizen, he cannot cut his cameo for fear of being deported.

“I can’t cut it,” Columbus said. “If I cut it, I’ll probably be sent from the country. I’m not considered suitable to live in the US, so I have to go back to Italy or something.”
