Letitia James dodges questions about mortgage fraud scandal outside NYC home, pretends to be on the phone

New York Attorney General Leticia James James caught a reporter outside her Brooklyn home on Wednesday, and refused to answer questions about her simmering mortgage fraud scandal.

James, who declared “no one exceeds the law” when he indicted President Trump, pretended to speak on her cell phone with questions about reporters being slapped in a federal criminal referral alleging mortgage fraud.

According to a letter obtained by the Post, James allegedly “falsified records” in 2023 to obtain loans for his lover’s home for his Virginia property, which he claimed as a “major residence.”

A letter written by the Federal Housing and Finance Agency (FHFA) Department of Attorney General Pam Bondy and Deputy AG Todd Blanche alleges that James purchased five family residences in Brooklyn in February 2001.

Pulte contained several documents in a letter in 1983 and 2000 indicating that James had purchased property co-signed by his father, but mistakenly listing the pair as “husband and wife.”

“It appears that James falsified records to meet certain lending requirements and receive favorable loan terms for both of the above properties,” he told Bondy and Blanche.

Pulte said this could amount to criminal charges, including wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud and false statements to financial institutions.
