A viral video showing sports reporters seeking a phone number for a young woman during a baseball broadcast angered feminists who called it sexist and misogyny.
Sportscaster Wiley Ballard interviewed two female fans when she was encouraged to ask for a phone number from other stations during the broadcast of an Atlanta Braves game against the Toronto Blue Jays.
“This is very inappropriate and I’m so sick of joking about new ways to pick up in the air.”
“I got 4 innings, 5 innings to get the numbers!” Joke-play-by-play commentator Brandon Gordin.
“It’s okay, they want me to get your number,” Ballard told one of the women he had to do with.
The commentator joked that cheating on women at a baseball game is a great tactic.
“I should have thought this year ago!” Ballard said.
However, when the video appeared on the internet, an upset army of Cullens came out of the woodwork and accused Ballard of acting inappropriately.
“It is difficult not to ignore the disproportionate power dynamics here, and many people point to obvious double standards when gender is reversed. I responded Kristen Wong is a journalist from Sports Illustrated.
“From reporters to the guys at the booths, to truck producers who were able to stop it everywhere, professional stigma. It’s not “fun.” It’s not “cool”. It’s not “harmless.” I wrote it Fox sports writer Ralph Vaquiciano.
he Added The incident “puts women in a severe, welcome, unfair, and even dangerous place.”
“Yes, that wasn’t an expert.” I wrote it One fan on social media. “If a woman in sports media does the same thing, she’s crucified.”
“This is a nasty behavior. We want women to feel comfortable at sporting events. Will this be promoted? I answered Fantasy NASCAR writer Matthew Seltz.
Others defended Ballard and told him to settle on social media.
“The fact that @wileyballard_ The kindest and most professional reporter I have covered at Atlanta sports is in the eyes of today’s stupid internet storms. I responded Veteran Sports Anchor Wes Blankenship. “Exhale. And the gentleman asked the girl for her number, so think of you might be alive today.”
“All Wiley Ballard’s thoughtwork must be stopped. The man is [sic] He’s one of the nicest people in the business and has worked very hard to get to where he is.” I answered Brady Penn, a broadcasting station. “If you’re crying about it being ‘inappropriate’ or ‘m misogynistic’, stop it.
Despite Wiley’s cheating, the Braves continued to defeat 4 from the Blue Jays 8.
