President Trump’s special envoy to Russia and Iran – the increasingly ubiquitous Steve Witkov is approaching soon Like a bean region. Like its fictional character, clumsy attempts to play Witkov’s diplomats only complicate our national security challenges, and they are much more difficult to solve.
If the global interests are not that high, it’s comical. Rowan Atkinson is a slam dunk to play Witkov if he thinks that if the film is made, “a trouble with Mr. Witkov,” but the future security of Eastern Europe is at stake, and the dangerous outlook for nuclear Iran grows as Tehran approaches a nuclear breakout.
It was bad enough that Witkov’s favour over Russian President Vladimir Putin last Friday. It is never a good look to embrace a dictator by first placing your hands in your heart, while sacrificing the interests of Ukrainians fighting on behalf of Western freedom.
But getting into the point of Iran’s hoped story was beyond pale. Witkoff then returned his comments, but during an interview with Sean Hannity of Fox News,Trump’s EnvoyThe US implied that it wanted to verify Iran’s uranium enrichment and what “type” it had[s]]of the missiles they stocked there. ”
Essentially, what was Witkov trying to sell Iran? Rehashing Obama-era nuclear trade. Don’t worry about Trump’s long-standing criticism of Obama-era nuclear deals and that Trump is officially denounced I withdraw from that transaction May 2018.
Given all the recent regional setbacks at the hands of Israeli people, Iran will be willing to sign a 2.0 contract with Hamas decimation, Hezbollah castration and attacks on Yemen’s Houtis.
There is friction with Witkov. Consistently, as a negotiator, he overly identifies with our nation’s enemies. First up with Putin, and now, surprisingly, it’s a hellish Iranian regime in obtaining nuclear weapons.
I think the Iranian problem set is linked to the Ukrainian Peace Contract.
Like his fictional bean-like ego of alter ego, Witkov seems to be completely unaware of how geopolitics works, and the superpower attitude that comes with it. In his enthusiasm to reach any transaction, Witkov is willing to make large, short-term concessions at the expense of strategic long-term considerations without the consent of Ukraine or Israel.
Witkov witnessed this in real time last week after meeting Putin in St. Petersburg. According to Reuters, Witkov told Trump that the quickest way to reach a ceasefire in Ukraine was Putin Award Forget about four Ukraines he illegally annexed in 2022.
Don’t worry that Russia has no complete control over any of the four: Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, or Zaporizhzhia, and that it illegally occupy and conquer Ukrainian citizens under international law. Don’t worry either Putin interprets Witkov’s negotiation approach as a green light to expand the war.
Witkov now appears to bring the same self-defeating approach to negotiations between Iran and its ruling regime. What happened to Trump’s great death in February?Maximum pressure‘Policy approach to Khamenei?
In January, Trump warned that former President Joe Biden must end the tolerant environment he left behind. Instead, Witkov doubled in a bean-like way, creating a more relaxed and tolerant environment for all the axes of Russia, Iran and even evil allies.
Slouching over Armageddon does not accomplish the job. Witkov needs to go, and need to go fast. Certainly Secretary of State Marco Rubio can see this. Why does Witkov have an allies about it when he is allowed to act as a loose cannon?
It is no wonder that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragci was largely encouraged after his first brief exchange with Witkov in Oman. Trump’s envoy was foolishly pushing for Obama’s nuclear deal recovery. And he had informed Iran that he had time.
There’s no sense of urgency, Araguchi was seized On Iranian television, he said,[American] The goal is to reach an agreement in the shortest possible time. But that’s certainly not an easy task. ”
It looks very similar to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Sunday. I said Ongoing US-Russia negotiations are unlikely to result in “lightning outcomes,” but “everything is working very well.”
Speed is killed, which kills Witkov’s negotiating position. Iran could respect the threat of power. Even that is doubtful given Khamenei’s stubbornness and his unwillingness to retreat after Israel began systematically destroying the so-called “axis of resistance” after the attack on October 7th.
But is it stubborn? Or does Khamenei know that Iran is close to a nuclear breakout and close to the capabilities needed to trigger and deliver nuclear weapons?
In any case, the Iranian nuclear threat is very realistic and it is immediate. Contrary to recent testimony from former National Intelligence Director Tarsi Gabbard of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Iran is trying to build nuclear weapons and delivery systems that can launch them.
As we pointed out, walking like a nuclear duck, quoting like a nuclear duck, it is a nuclear Iranian duck.
Trump must quickly reassert Witkov and his overall Iranian policy. Team Trump has made many correct strategic and tactical thingsMessaging MovesIncludes “deployment of at least six nuclei-enabled B-2 spirit bombers into Camp Thunder Bay on Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean.”
The president has I stated myself He believes that Khamenei has been playing him for a while. Iran will continue to do so until Witkov is relieved. That’s why Iran hosts Raffel Grasi in Tehran, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, who believes he can use him to claim a new version of the Obama nuclear deal.
Witkov needs to be replaced by a former US general – retired General Jack Keene comes to mind – they can reestablish a real sense of urgency and realize Trump’s “maximum pressure” policy approach on Iran.
Team Trump leaned forward towards Armageddon. A good deal of Witkoff like Bean playing with Khamenei’s nuclear ambitions. Iran can enrich enough uranium to build one nuclear a month.
It’s time for Trump to let Iran know in uncertain terms. When Tehran says that the entire nuclear program must be dismantled or kinetically dismantled by the US and Israelis, he informs him that it is serious.
