Frontier Airlines flight loses wheel while landing in Puerto Rico: passenger

Frontier Airlines passengers spoke about how one of the plane’s wheels broke during a horrifying landing in Puerto Rico on Tuesday.

Melani Gonzalez Wharton wrote on Facebook that a family plane from Florida to Puerto Rico became a “terrifying experience” when it was about to land at Luis Munoz Marin International Airport.

“For a few minutes, I thought it was the end of our story on Earth,” Wharton wrote on Facebook.

Wharton said he watched the ordeal unfold through the flight windows.

No injuries were reported immediately after a hard landing took place at Luis Munos Marine International Airport in Puerto Rico. (istock)

“We were landing, the landing was very bad, aggressive and fast, one of the tires on the front of the plane broke and set fire,” she wrote.

Frontier Flight 5306 had come to land with 228 passengers when the Airbus A321 experienced “mechanical problems.” El Nuevo Dia reported.

Flight Investigator Louis Ilizary told Puerto Rico WAPA-TV The young flight co-pilot appeared to have been commander at the time of the incident before the swiftly thought captain took over to land safely.

“The reality is that we were flying in the hands of estheticians,” Wharton wrote on Facebook.

No injuries were reported immediately.
