Israel welcomed newly-supported US ambassador Mike Huckabee on Friday at a ceremony at the Western Wall, Judaism’s most sacred place, in the midst of Passover Holiday religious service.

Friday marked the start of the weekend when Easter was observed, Good Friday. This year, in rare agreements, Easter is observed on the same day by Catholics, Protestants and Orthodox Christians.
Huckabee was the first evangelical Christian to hold the position of US ambassador to Israel. He has traveled to Israel since the 1970s and is a solid supporter of the Jewish state.
In his remarks at the West Wall, Huckabee pointed out that his first act as an ambassador was to bring handwritten prayers for peace from President Donald Trump, and place them in the cracks of the wall in tradition.
“It’s a special honor to be able to do this on this last weekend of Passover,” Huckabee added. “I’m thinking of a better time to bring this message of goodwill.”

Ambassador Huckabee was accepted by Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Western Wall and Holy Land Rabbi, and Mordecai (Suri) Eliaf, who was warmly welcomed by Mr. Mordecai (Suri) Eliaf, director of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, and expressed his blessing for the success of his new role, in honor of his new role.
During his visit, the ambassador prayed with Rabbi Rabinowitz, reciting poem sal 121, and then offered personal prayers for success in his mission and tenure and continued unity and peace between nations.

“It’s an honor for me to be here on behalf of President Donald Trump and bring to you the prayers he personally wrote at the White House last Thursday. My first act is to take away his prayers.
Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi of the Western Walls and Holy Lands:
“The words cannot explain the feelings felt throughout the Israeli citizens and Jewish world. Hearing the announcement that pray, pray and notes will be placed on behalf of Israel’s greatest friend, the whole Jewish world.
Huckabee added a prayer that all remaining Israeli hostages would now be brought home from Gaza prisoners.
In 2017, Trump became the first president to visit the Western Wall while in office, confirming that the United States considers him part of Israel’s holy land.
