‘Grand’ plan for Penn Station linked to Trump donor could give glimpse of NYC transit hub’s future after fed takeover

It’s the “Grand” Pen plan.

Linked to the major backers of President Trump’s controversial Madison Square Garden, the rendering of the Penn Station improvement proposal gives a glimpse into the future of a problematic transit hub for New Yorkers.

Boased by Trump’s donor Thomas Klinganstein, the Grand Pen Community Alliance hopes to restore the original facade of Penn Station, create a Grand Commuter Hall, install a massive park, and move MSG to Seventh Avenue in particular.

The plan is one of the competing Penn Station proposals to redesign the proposal to the US Department of Transportation table now that the Trump administration has taken over the megaproject.

But whether developer Trump will choose Grand Pen Plan or a completely new option remains to be seen after Thursday’s shocking announcement that it will launch Metropolitan Transportation from a long-standing revamp.

So far, the only details provided by Transport Secretary Sean Duffy and federal officials is that the project will become an Amtrak-led “public-private partnership model.”

Governor Kathy Houchul, who called Penn Station the “hole of hell,” attempted to destroy the failure of New York leaders’ curse, pledging to build a new station.

She supported the MTA’s plan in 2021, building a 250,000-square-foot Penn Station with one level and a wider entrance, for around $7 billion. However, the broader plan has had many tweaks over the years, particularly the proposal of rivals by the Italian transport conglomerate ASTM.

The group hired former MTA chair Pat Foye to pitch a small plan to partially destroy the Hulu theatre owned by Madison Square Garden for the spectacular new entrance to 8th Avenue across from the Moynihan Train Hall.

The Grand Pen proposal came not only as an alternative to both plans, but also as a conscious effort to restore the glory of the original Penn station. The demolition in 1963 was considered by the New York Times as “.Monumental acts of vandalism. ”

Commuters offered mixed receptions for Trump to advance to the Penn Station saga.

Abdoulaye Diallo, 26-year-old personal trainer at Equinox, was excited by the proposal that showed the epic public square.

He wasn’t too excited about Trump’s involvement given the president’s mixed track record as a developer.

“It’s scary just knowing Trump’s type and all the promises he’s made,” he said. “He’s always going to say one thing, present exactly what people want to hear and do anything that benefits him.”

“there is [going to be] The giant Trump sign outside,” he joked.
