Grizzlies eliminate Mavericks, take Western Conference eighth seed

MEMFIS, Tenn. — JA Morant overcame a sprain in his right ankle to score 22 points and added nine assists, and the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Dallas Mavericks 120-106 to advance to the NBA playoffs on Friday night.

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 24 points, while Desmond Bane added 22 points. Grizzlies left several Dallas rallies later.

Memphis secures the eighth seed in the Western Conference and will open against top seed Oklahoma City in the Best Seven Series starting Sunday on Thunder’s home court.

Anthony Davis led the Mavericks with 40 points and nine rebounds, adding 18 points.
