On HBO’s “real-time” broadcast on Friday, Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) said China needs to be trapped in some regions and is doing harmful things like theft of intellectual property and products that throw away products, but when President Donald Trump says he has to do business with us, President Donald Trump will back down.
“I feel like he chose to fight the wrong bully. He said this week that China needs to do business with us. We don’t have to do business with them,” host Bill Maher said.
Smith replied, “mmhm. That’s very different.”
Smith later added: “Trump like a completely confusing, cyclical and unplanned strategy, and on the other hand, first of all, he is angering all his allies, so there’s no way to mount a global strategy to contain China that we need, and no one knows what he’s going to do.
