Knicks ride wild fourth-quarter run to take Game 1 over Pistons

This felt like last spring.

At Saturday’s playoff opener, the Knicks embodied the injured team a year ago.

Anunoby was the best nick with a big margin in the first 24 minutes, scoring 19 points with 6/11 shooting, while adding three rebounds, two steels and one block.

Town had a great moment when sharing the floor with Mitchell Robinson, with 10 points, six rebounds, two steals and two assists.

The Pistons began the second half by scoring on their first eight possessions, taking a four-point lead with a 15-4 burst stretch.

Malik Beasley extended it to 7 late in the quarter, and Detroit raised its final stanza to 8. It was a particularly poor defensive period for the Knicks. The Knicks had the piston shoot 63.6% absurd with the frame (22-14).

The Knicks increased strength at the beginning of the fourth quarter, forcing turnovers on the Pistons’ first two possessions.

They outscored 15-7 at the first 4:13 of the period and also pulled in the 3-pointer with 7:47 left.

The run was just beginning. Soon the Knicks went first and the garden was as loud as it was all night long.
