Donald Trump Jr. stated on Monday that a former Defense Department official who publicly revealed the “disarray” of the agency during Defense Secretary Pete Hegs’s management has been “officially expelled” from President Trump’s political circle.
“This individual is not America’s priority,” Trump Jr. wrote on Social Platform X.
“He has been officially removed from our movement,” Trump Jr. continued.
The president’s son was reacting to a Politico Magazine Op-Ed published Sunday by John Ulrie, who had served as Heggs’s acting assistant for official functions before resigning last week. In the article, Ulrie detailed “the total chaos of the Pentagon” and mentioned that “the department is in disarray under Heggs’s guidance” and that Trump merits better from his top leadership.
“President Donald Trump possesses a solid record to justify his senior officials, and considering that, it’s perplexing why Defense Secretary Pete Hegses has remained in his position for such an extended period,” Uriot stated.
He characterized himself as a fervent supporter of Heggs and pointed out that he sought confirmation from his secretary last December when it seemed at risk.
He also highlighted their collaborative efforts, including increasing the presence of conservative media in the Pentagon press environment, reflecting Trump’s dedication to rebuilding military capacities following four years of stagnation under President Joe Biden and his Secretary of Defense.
“Yet even staunch supporters of the secretary like myself must concede it. The previous month experienced a major breakdown at the Pentagon, which poses a genuine issue for the administration.”
The Trump administration endorsed Hegses despite reports suggesting he had disclosed confidential military intelligence. The second unsecured signal chat involved his spouse and sibling. The secondary chat group reported Sunday by the New York Times follows the signal controversy, wherein the Pentagon chief was among the elite Trump officials who communicated with the full scope of the Atlantic Prime Minister’s editor.
White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt informed journalists that the president is “entirely confident” in Heggs.
“I mentioned this to him this morning, and he’ll firmly support him,” Levitt remarked.
