Karmelo Anthony – A Texas teenager, who was charged with murdering high school athlete Austin Metcalf earlier this month, has been moved to a private location due to a “surprising increase in death threats.” KDFW-TV reported.
Next Generation Action Network, a group defending Anthony, told the station that the location switch occurred after court approval.
“In our society, the depth of hatred and prejudice is still alive and it’s heartbreaking and infuriating to see it work out.”
Anthony is under house arrest since April 14th. Release from prison When the judge cut the bond from $1 million to $250,000. Police arrested Anthony and charged Metcalf with first-degree murder after being fatally stabbed at the April 2 track tournament at Cukendall Stadium in Frisco.
In addition to the death threat, Ngan told the station in a news release, “there are “continuous harassment and physical threats targeting family homes.”

Among the harassment includes people visiting the Anthony family’s home, lots of and taking photos of their property, delivering false food, intrusive mailings with an obituary of Austin Metcalf, repeatedly circling family homes, taking photos, and trying to induce fear and threats.
“A dangerous atmosphere was created…a vibe supported by systemic hatred, systemic racism and intentional misinformation,” said Dominique Alexander, president of Ngan, citing a news release.
According to KDFW, Alexander added. “We must not be siege just because our families demand constitutional rights. We are not silent and we will not retreat. We are committed to doing what is necessary to protect this family and ensure that justice is pursued without threats or fear.”
Alexander made the headline last week when he called Jeff Metcalf, the father of the murder victim. After Dallas police were called to a press conference, Jeff Metcalf was seen leaving the venue.

Alexander told people gathered at the press conference that Metcalf was “not invited.” [the Anthony] Family, “and his presence at press conferences” shows you “his ‘character’.”

Shortly after the stab wound on April 2, arrest officials said Anthony reportedly told him “I was protecting myself.” WFAA-TV reportedcited affidavits of arrest.

The arrest officer immediately told a fellow officer who arrived at the scene that he had a suspected suspect – and was reported that Anthony had reported, “I didn’t do that. I did that.”
Witnesses reportedly pointed out to police that Metcalf, who competed for Memorial High School, told Anthony that he had to move out from under the team’s tent, the station said, citing the affidavit. So Anthony opened his bag and reached inside, an eyewitness told police, WFAA said.
“Let’s touch me and see what happens,” Anthony told Metcalf, the station added, citing the witness.

Alexander tore Frisco ISD at a press conference last week, claiming that district officials intend to expel Anthony, a senior at Centennial High School, before graduation.
