Mets’ dominant pitching quiets Phillies’ bats again for impressive win to push streak to six

It turned out to be a gorgeous baseball night hinted at the end of the worst cold.

The winter jacket was left at home, and the camera was out for the sundown.

However, as the weather changed and sample sizes increased, there were no signs that the Mets pitching staff would succumb to the whims of a long season. Their hot start was getting hot.

The best pitching staff in baseball continued to excellence. A well-successful attack, well-performed and did the best job with the clutch.

The defense, which generally seemed above average, looked better than that.

The Mets took the competition a step forward and continued rolling with a 5-1 series victory over the Phillies ahead of 36,468 at Citifield on Tuesday.

The Mets (17-7) have won six straight games, seeking a sweep from the second-placed team in the NL East on Wednesday afternoon.

One of the most powerful crimes in baseball scored in two frames in 18 innings of the series.

Behind Griffin Canning, Haskar Brazovan, AJ Minter, Lynn Stanek and Jose Butzú, the Mets have lowered their MLB Best era to 2.37.

It started with canning. Canning consistently danced trouble, only firing one run in five innings.

The signature flyer owns a 3.12 ERA through five startes.

“It was fun. We all feed each other,” Canning said of the rotation that doesn’t allow Homer in 11 straight games tied for the fifth-longest striped pattern in franchise history. “We all have fun in the dugouts. …It’s great to be with these people.”

The pitching staff helped this night. Pete Alonso’s variety backhand scoop at MarkVientos’ one hopper ran in two innings.

“I think he’s probably the best in the game. [scoops]said manager Carlos Mendoza.

Vientos and Luising Luisangel Acuña connected for their sixth double play.

Two innings later, Tyrone Taylor rushed out with a shallow fly ball from Nick Castellanos, deciding as if he were missing the ball.

He wanted Kyle Schwarber to wander afar across the base. That’s what happened.

A powerful, one-hop throw and another pick from Alonso created a double play.

“I learned that from Jackie Bradley Jr.,” Taylor said of the fakes.

This defense helped the pitching staff start with canning and simply survive against the powerful Phillies.

He wasn’t dominant, but he was strong when he needed to oversee seven runners on base in five innings.

The Phillies scored only when the JT Realmuto Double, the Alec Bohm Infield single and the Johan Rojas single ran.

However, Vientos and Alonso worked together to retire Trea Turner so that Canning could escape further danger.

“I think it’s a bit better [later in the game]”The canned food was landed and brought to the bottom of the zone,” said.

He was still in his best condition when he had to be there on a day he didn’t feel his best.

He pitched around the leadoff single in fourth. Fifth, the Phillies gave the runners second and third, but Canning used nasty Changeup and Slider to rock Castellanos and was kicked out of the mound.

Brazobán, Minter, Stanek and Buttó have taken over and combined to surpass one four scoreless innings. The Metz Bullpen era was reduced to 2.47.

The club’s arms were not needed much from their offense.

The Mets were 9-4, with the runners scoring and scored all five runs with two outs.

Vientos RBI scored a run with a double in the first inning, and after the inning Francis Colindore singled a single (his three hits) on his second run.

The Mets added with 2 outs in the seventh when Alonso smoked an RBI double.

After walking to Vientos and pinch-hit Jesse Winker, Luis Torrens knocked on a two-run single and spiked his bat on his way to one base at the celebration.

Torrens’ blows helped. His best staff handling of the game so far is even more remarkable.

“The guys go out there, take the ball, give them the opportunity to win a baseball game and attack the strike zone,” Mendoza said.
