Breaking News: White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner Starts Now in Washington!

Live updates: White House Correspondents' Association dinner kicks off in Washington

The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) dinner and associated events are happening in Washington, though they seem less glamorous and appealing compared to last year.

President Trump was against participating in the annual gathering, maintaining a brief relationship with the media team.

Recently, the WHCA abruptly canceled Amber Ruffin’s anticipated performance at the dinner. WHCA President Eugene Daniels from MSNBC mentioned that the event at the Washington Hilton would instead emphasize the positivity and achievements of journalists.

“In this pivotal time for journalism, I aim to concentrate not only on the politics of division but also on recognizing exceptional work among peers and offering scholarships and mentorship to aspiring journalists,” Daniels commented on the decision regarding Ruffin in March.

During his presidency, Trump did not attend the dinner, disrupting traditions that have been observed for several administrations.

The red carpet for the event begins at 5pm, while the official program is set to start at 9:30pm.
