The eastern Texas mother was arrested after her child fell ill on suspicion of a gel o’shot with vodka at a fifth-grade school holiday party in December.
Teresa Isabel Bernal, 33, faces a felony of child injury after multiple students have consumed it, claiming it was a treat with vodka in her hands at Jones Elementary School in Tyler.
According to Affidavits obtained by Ketk, A police officer from the Tyler Independent School District (ISD) received a call from the principal of Jones Elementary School.
According to the arrest affidavit, one child was unable to stand up after consuming six shots. School staff said students consumed almost all of the contaminated shots before staff realized they contained alcohol.

According to the affidavit, 15 students were sent to school nurses and reported having stomach pain and headaches.
According to the affidavit, after returning from Christmas holidays, another student reported that he had thrown twice at school that day, but another student claimed he had “dead” after school after the party.
Bernal told the executive that he bought Jell-O shots from a local business he found on Facebook.
“The business is running out of home so she went by the house, bought a shot of Geloo and took her to school for a Christmas party,” the affidavit said.

Bernal denied knowing that Jell-O’s shots had alcohol, claiming he was not going to give students a snack with alcohol added.
However, investigators opposed Bernal’s claims, saying that they said they included Smirnoff in the Jell-O shots she ordered. [a vodka brand]The complaint says.
“In my opinion, Bernal couldn’t overlook the fact that Jero Au Shot, which she bought and took her to her daughter’s fifth-grade Christmas party, contained alcohol,” the arrest affidavit states.

In an interview with some of the teachers, they told investigators that Bernal brings a shot of Geloo to the class party, but “reliable” Bernal doesn’t bring “harmful” to the school party.
Tyler ISD officials shared a statement with Fox News Digital, saying they were aware of Bernal’s recent arrest and were working with law enforcement in the investigation.
“Tyler ISD is aware of the recent arrest of parents related to a primary school holiday party last December. At the time, parents volunteers brought homemade jel-O to the celebration, which was later found to contain alcohol. Unfortunately, some students consumed jel-O before the situation was discovered. – Tyler ISD
The district added that Bernal has not returned to campus since the incident, adding that it is currently facing legal consequences.

According to prison records, Bernal was booked to prison on April 21, with her bail set at $75,000.
She has not yet appeared in court and at this time it doesn’t appear to have an attorney.
