Authorities released video footage earlier this month from a police-involved shooting involving author Gillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Schliner.
Footage from the security cameras on April 8 showed 51-year-old armed Lauren appearing barefoot from the couple’s Eagle Rock home, carrying a 9mm gun in her right hand.
She surveyed her backyard for a minute on video, before wandering around in front of the house and towards the driveway.
The footage then moves to LAPD body camera video of an officer standing behind a wooden fence, where he repeatedly tells Lauren to place his handgun.
“Madam, we’re trying to help you,” shouts one of the officers. “You’ll be shot. It’s the police!”
One of the officer’s comments in the clip was, “She just pointed it out.”
Confusion continues, and officers screaming commands from each other. The shot then gushes out and the video stops.
According to LAPD, Lauren fired a gun at police and urged her to hit her with the shoulder.
Authorities say the wife of “Say It Ai n’t So” was arrested after surveillance of three misdemeanor hit and run suspects of LAPD.
She was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sources said Lauren couldn’t see the officers and mistaken them for intruders.
The bestseller author has been charged with attempted murder.
Lauren has written two bestselling memoirs, “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” in 2010 and “Everything You Wanted” in 2015.
The couple have been married since 2005 and have been adopted by two children.
Lauren has not yet commented publicly on the incident.
