Browns’ Andrew Berry, Kevin Stefanski go viral for reaction to Shedeur Sanders pick

The Browns finally finished a surprising fall for Chedure Sanders by selecting a Colorado quarterback in the fifth round of the NFL Draft on Saturday, but draft room members, including general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski, weren’t expected to fall on the third day.

Stefanski remained stoic as the broadcast panned into the draft room, but Berry looked heartless after many other people behind the pair traded up and got 144 issues overall.

On paper, in the fifth round, there was a prospect who was nailed as the top three picks in the most important position of the sport.

However, Sanders’ past three days were defined by things that didn’t happen in the draft. The team kept passing him on — including the Browns who chose former Oregon quarterback Dilongabriel on Friday in the third round — selected Jackson Dart (25th overall, Giants), Tyler Schaff (40th overall, 40, St.), Jaylen Mirrroe (Nancan), and Jaylen Mirrro (40). Finally I got a call.

But when asked about the virus’ response, Berry told reporters, “We’ve probably just been tired since the weekend.” According to the pro football story.

“These clips, they don’t timing them exactly at the right time, so I don’t read too much about them,” Stephensky told reporters.

Sanders and Gabriel will now be in the busy Cleveland quarterback room, including 40-year-old Joe Fraco and Kenny Pickett.

Controversial quarterback Desshaun Watson recovered from the same injuries that ended the 2024 season, causing his season to already be at risk, with his Achilles tendon again in January.

So despite his fall and seemingly unexaggerated response from the Browns, Sanders enters his first NFL training camp and preseason season, competing for snaps, demonstrating that he should be chosen much earlier than he actually is.

“We felt that he was a good, solid outlook that was in his most important position,” Berry told reporters who drafted Sanders. “We felt like his price was reached related to drafts, which had a fairly light acquisition cost. That’s the guy who thinks he can strip his draft stock. I’m not saying it’s more.”
