Matt Moran, head of the spirit of the Glenn Youngkin government (R) of Virginia Governor Matt Moran, has stepped down from his role amid arguing that GOP lieutenant Governor John Reid would call on him to suspend his campaign.
The development comes a week after Reid called Reid to suspend the campaign after reports that Republican researchers had come across sexually explicit photos on Tumblr posted by the same username used by Reid for other accounts. Reed has denied the allegations on Monday to condemn Youngkin's team of fear tor. Reid, who is openly gay, says the reason he is targeted is because of his sexuality.
Virginia Republicans have flocked to Reid's defense in the face of controversy, calling Youngkin's move a “forced error” and denounced the Virginia PAC spirit. Reed held a rally in Henrico County on Wednesday, according to local media.
Youngkin tackled the controversy at a press conference at a fentanyl recognition event earlier this week.
“It's a distraction for the campaign, a distraction from people paying attention to the most important issues. Today we're talking about fentanyl and saving lives. “So I called him on Friday morning.”
“And the decision is John's and it's up to John,” the governor continued.
Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R), the governor's GOP candidate, reflected Youngkin's remarks in another statement Tuesday evening.
“This week we will be focusing on the candidate lieutenant governor who has been distracted from that mission and cannot continue,” Earl Sears said, referring to the mission of “to unite and inspire Virginians from all backgrounds.”
“John Reed is a Republican lieutenant governor candidate, and it is his race and his decision to move forward.
