Tucker Carlson recently suggested that the Trump administration should support Russell Brand, who faces serious allegations including sexual assault. Carlson made this statement on Friday, highlighting the charges laid against Brand last month, which include one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, and several other sexual assault allegations.
The London Metropolitan Police started their investigation in September 2023 after multiple women came forward with accusations against Brand. One woman claimed he raped her in 1999, another accused him of indecent assault in 2001, and a third alleged she experienced verbal and physical rape in 2004. A fourth woman reported sexual assault occurring between 2004 and 2005. None of the accusers have been publicly identified.
Brand, who is remarried and has three children after his divorce from Katy Perry, denied any wrongdoing and suggested that there might be a systematic agenda to silence him. He has previously criticized the government for using COVID-19 to impose what he describes as a totalitarian regime in the UK.
As the allegations came to light, UK authorities reportedly pressured platforms like Rumble to limit Brand’s ability to monetize content online. Rumble responded by calling the request intrusive and reaffirmed its commitment to free speech, in stark contrast to YouTube, which suspended monetization for Brand’s channels.
In his statement, Carlson referred to Brand as someone who is beloved by the UK’s liberal establishment, expressing concern over the government’s sudden efforts against him at a politically charged time. He claimed the allegations have no substantial evidence and are politically motivated, similar to past allegations faced by figures like Julian Assange.
This post came shortly before Brand’s appearance at a London court, where he was granted bail while facing these serious allegations. During his court appearance, he maintained his innocence, stating that scrutiny is welcome when one is innocent. Carlson’s post concluded with him urging prayers for Brand and suggesting that he deserves asylum from the Trump administration.
