On MSNBC’s “Beat” last Friday, former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissman commented that President Donald Trump seems to have adopted the tactics of a “McCarthy era” blacklist.
Host Ali Melber asked, “What can we learn from this ongoing situation with Trump?”
Weissman responded, “We should take a cue from history. None of us really lived through the McCarthy era, but there’s an important lesson here. Our past shows that we should be cautious.”
He continued, “To be on the right side of history, you don’t need to hide in fear. It’s essential to speak up.”
