David Hogg, the vice-chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), expressed his commitment to continue advocating for his party, even if he were to lose his position.
In an interview with Newsweek on Thursday, he mentioned, “I would obviously prefer not to be sidelined. Still, if that happens, I will continue to fight for a stronger Democratic party.”
“This party has existed for over 170 years and has changed significantly over time. It’s crucial we have the best people to lead us forward,” he added.
Breitbart News reported on April 24 that his statements may jeopardize his position at the DNC, particularly due to a promise he made to a major incumbent Democrat.
“For various reasons, the DNC is supposed to remain neutral in primary races. However, Hogg feels it transcends mere neutrality and is determined to challenge Democrats he views as ‘ineffective’ in the primaries,” noted John Norte of Breitbart.
According to the Newsweek article, DNC Chair Ken Martin has suggested potential rule changes that could lead to Hogg’s departure if the current trajectory continues.
Hogg was elected as Vice President of the DNC in February, as reported by Breitbart News. The publication also noted that “social media conservatives found it amusing to critique the Democrats after witnessing some chaos during a leadership vote for the DNC over the weekend, following their electoral losses in 2024.”
In March, President Donald Trump claimed that “Democrats defeated themselves,” as his approval rating plummeted to historic lows.
Furthermore, polls indicated in March that Trump’s approval rating had risen to 51%, according to Breitbart News and a report by Rasmussen.
“Trump has favorable ratings from the American public regarding his performance, whereas the Democrats have been viewed quite negatively,” the outlet stated.
