It’s difficult to have a meaningful discussion when some Democrats don’t support our system of government.

On Friday, during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Senator Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) discussed the challenges of collaborating with those across the political aisle, particularly when their beliefs clash with practical reality.

Republicans from Oklahoma highlighted issues stemming from the perspectives of Senators Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), particularly regarding socialism, as well as Senator Chris Murphy’s (D-CT) presidential aspirations.

“The delusions among leading Democrats are astounding,” host Sean Hannity remarked. “Why aren’t they straightforward with the American public? I’m not sure. But here we have Oklahoma’s Senator Markwayne Mullin to shed some light on these issues. Have you ever conversed with colleagues from the other party?”

“Some you can engage with, and others, well, you can’t,” Mullin responded. “I’ve mentioned this before, Sean. It’s impossible to have a rational discussion when the other party presents such outlandish ideas. For instance, when Jasmine Crockett defends illegal actions and claims constitutional rights for those who aren’t even American citizens—or lawful visitors—it’s baffling. They’re in the country illegally and suggesting we could randomly send them off isn’t practical; we have to return them to their home countries.”

He added, “Trying to have a dialogue with AOC or the openly socialist Bernie Sanders is tricky. There’s no common ground. They adhere to socialism, which we fundamentally reject. Their beliefs align more with the systems in Russia and China, and that makes political discussions difficult, especially with the 2028 presidential ambitions looming.”
