President Donald Trump expressed concern over the state of the film industry in a recent social media update, stating intentions to introduce tariffs on films related to Hollywood.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump remarked, “The American film industry is dying very quickly.” He pointed out that other nations are providing various incentives that result in filmmakers and studios distancing themselves from the U.S. “Hollywood and several other regions in the United States are suffering,” he added.
Trump labeled the ongoing situation as a “coordinated effort by other countries,” suggesting it poses a threat to national security.
He also mentioned, “It’s message and propaganda, along with everything else!” Republicans have indicated that his plans for tariffs are underway. Trump has reportedly empowered the Commerce Department and U.S. trade representatives to initiate the implementation of 100% tariffs on films produced outside the country.
Moreover, he called for changes to United Nations immunity and LAX visa regulations, citing reasons related to national security.
“We want films made in America again!” Trump asserted. These comments arrived after a period during which some of his tariff initiatives were postponed due to market instability. Trump maintained his resolve, stating, “I’ll come to the negotiation table in Beijing regarding China’s tariffs.”
